How they met…

Courtney and Nathan’s meet-cute is straight out of a romantic movie: at work, their desks faced each other, so every time one would stand up, they’d see each other face-to-face. Courtney says she tried to remain professional, but she always found Nathan very handsome, and as he shared glimpses of his life and personality, she became fully invested.

Nathan still remembers how he felt in the first moment he saw Courtney: “Woah, you are perfect! But would likely never go for me…” He decided not to ask her out that day. Fortunately, Nathan was very wrong - and over time Courtney ended up dropping flirtatious hints, that Nathan admits he was slow to pick up on.

“I would craft ways to nonchalantly get his attention. Which typically resulted in me asking him for help, or inviting him on a coffee lap. This continued for a while until we attended a work event, and talked the entire night.” 

The next day, Courtney was with her friends at a winery, swiping through her Hinge profile. Lo and behold, Nathan's profile appeared! (She says she may have or may have not adjusted the age settings immediately after the work event…) After much encouragement from her friends, and a little bit of courage from the merlot, Courtney swiped right on his profile and sent a message: "Fancy seeing you here! :) ". 

Nathan didn’t respond for a week! Courtney was full of dread every day seeing him at work. Nathan eventually replied, and the two have been together ever since.

How they knew…

Over time, Nathan felt as though he’d found the missing puzzle piece that would match him, and he began to see Courtney as his wife.

“It might sound superficial, but little things like spending hours laughing together over Youtube videos, I felt like I could finally be my true self with someone. I could relax, let my guard down, and have fun with someone.”

Courtney knew Nathan was the one when he told her he was willing to move overseas with her, even leave his job, as long as it meant they would be together. 

What they love about each other…

Courtney says, “I love that Nathan is thoughtful. He is intentional with his words, actions, and he puts others before himself. He inspires me to be my best self and is kind, compassionate, and patient during my lowest times. And of course, I think that Nathan is exceptionally handsome, but there is so much more than just his looks!”
Nathan loves Courtney’s cringy dad jokes, her willingness to be up for anything, her quirky faces she makes so I laugh, her willingness to dance with him (“because I’m awful”), and her willingness to talk with him about anything and everything. 

“The best thing about being with Courtney is…her goofiness. I love every bit of it and can’t wait to have it for my entire life.” – Nathan

Nathan proposed to Courtney by moonlight - reminiscent of their first date. They retraced their original path and ended at the Washington Monument. After, their family and friends surprised them at a restaurant downtown. Courtney says she had never felt more loved in her life.

Together, they love to experience new things, which Courtney says is refreshing and keeps their relationship interesting. “With Nathan’s intellect and wit, there is never a dull moment. Nathan is the best partner I could ask for.”
